If you are interested in meeting a particular cat, please email us to verify that he or she is still available for adoption and present at the shelter. Many of our cats are in foster homes, so please email us to let us know who you want to meet and when, so that we can arrange to bring them to an adoption event.

I'm a talker! Certainly I am a very friendly cat. In fact, I'm a MAJOR lap cat and lovebug! I'm a bit nosy too. I always want to know what's going on around me. And I am as charismatic as the basketball player I was named after. I am 9 years old, but don't act my age. I absolutely love the ladies, but am not as fond of the other male cats. I especially like Portia.

I was adopted from AWLMC as a kitten. My family is going through some difficult times and felt they no longer could care for me properly. I am a beautiful tortie. Look at my stunning green eyes! As you can tell, I love to eat. I really need to get my weight under control, but as you humans know -- it's a battle. I love to play and will also cuddle with you. I am really getting along well with Shaq, though we don't have to be adopted together. But we would make a great pair!
My previous owner has described my as "heavenly". Therefore she spelled "Heaven" backwards to create my name. Pronunciation is up to you! I believe my owner is correct in her description of me. She now has two jobs working 16 hours a day. It became clear to her that she no longer could take proper care of me. Fortunately you fine people took me in. I get along with dogs and didn't mind the other two cats I lived with.
I am a handsome declawed male. I was given up by my previous owner because the pet rent for me was too much for her financially. I am shy in new situations. It takes me some to time to warm up, but once I get to know you I will show you lots of love. I like to play and be held. I also love to be petted and loved on. I purr lots too! Come take me home today.
I had elderly owners. The wife got really sick and went into a nursing home. Then the husband became incapacitated and some family friends took me in on a temporary basis until the husband got better. The husband never recuperated and the family who took me in was stuck with me. They could not keep me as they have 5 cats of their own. That is when AWLMC stepped in and took me. I am a very gentle girl. Not terribly shy, but not terribly out going. But certainly I warm up to you after a short introduction. I purr when you pick me up and carry me around.

I came to AWLMC when someone found me as a very small kitten in a garden in Rockville. I am a handsome brown tabby. I can be shy at first and need some time to adjust to new surroundings before I feel comfortable. Once I feel safe, I will come out and be your best friend. I like to snuggle and be near you. I get along with other cats and dogs.
